what I'm wearing: blue plaid

I love this outfit. Both the blouse and the belt are hand-me-downs from my cousin. I love how LONG the blouse is... at first I thought is was a way short dress. With the belt (that I stole off a dress in my closet in a burst of inspiration) it's shorter, however.

What I'm wearing:
plaid blouse: hand-me-down
belt: "stolen' from another hand-me-down dress
my nice gray pants from Old Navy, on clearance for $5!

As you probably can tell from my dark eyes, I've been very sleep deprived lately and I'm fighting a cold, like most everyone else. Hope you're staying healthy!

The 50's

Ah, the 50's.... I've loved this era ever since I saw my first episode of I Love Lucy. The rest is history.

Fashion-wise, I think it's my fave decade of the 20th century. Particularly, I love the circle skirts!
Most skirts nowadays are gathered at the waist to be full at the hem. I like circle skirts because there's no bulk at the waist, but it's very "swingy" at the hem.
Poodle skirts (you know, like that pink felt skirt with a poodle applique that your grandma made you in 2nd grade?) are almost always circle skirts.

I was very pleased to see Louis Vutton's Fall/Winter collection so 50's inspired.Yay!!! (reviewed here on Bramblewood Fashion).

Anyways, I'm thinking of making a plaid circle skirt some time... any thoughts?

Well, have a lovely evening :)

Here's a tutorial on how to draft a circle skirt based on measurements, if you sew. In fact, the whole web page is fascinating!

the 2011 Golden Globes

Believe it or not, I didn't actually watch the award show... just the arrival special! Anyways, here were my favorite looks.

I loved Angelina Jolie's Versace dress--very modest, plus GREEN! And the overall cut reminds me a a vintage dress. Nice to see something other than the typical strapless.

Oliva Wilde's Marchesa gown is lovely too... not exactly original, but very gorgeous. I love the rhinestones!

Anyways, while I've never seen the majority of the movies nominated (or usually any given year), and didn't know who most of the movie stars were, and for the most part don't agree with Hollywood in general (morality-wise), there were some lovely gowns. Stuff of dreams. :)

Weakness

What'd ya know? After reading this post at Marie Loves, I realized I'm not the only one who gets Spring+Summer Fever after New Years! (That is an AMAZING coincidence. Wow.)

I'm just dying to wear some color! Yellow, tangerine orange, raspberry red.... I love this time of year...(esp. the WEATHER! I love rain. I'm serious) and I am not wishing my life away, but I wish sundresses were practical apparel for right now....the black/white/cream/browns I've been wearing got very dull when I saw the...

And so, inspired by Marie's post and the I Love Hue collection, I thought I'd share my faves.

This collection is pretty awesome. However, EVERY dress is TOO SHORT!!!! Fortunately, I know how to sew, and I'll make my own modest version of one of the dresses.

So this one I am definitely sewing. Gorgeous. But 5" longer. With wide straps or sleeveless.... but look at that COLOR!!!

worn with:

This dress is two inches longer than the previous... and still SHORT! I love the circle skirt though. And the red + pink together.... never would have thought.

Just love this purple. LOVE the purple. (Short still.)

And, last but not least.....
This is tied for my favorite. I LOVE the tights. (Fun tights are going on my bucket list). And the blue with neutral heels. Wacky. Inspiring.

So go check out the collection. (NOTE: as I've said a million times in this post, I don't consider these outfits modest. Please see my disclaimer, on the right sidebar)

What's your fave color?

What I'm wearing: Icing!

Not what you think. Icing is a store. :)

Anyways, this ring is a locket! With roses on it! Reminds me a lot of this book:
Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast
(BTW, best book ever. Here's Earwen's review)

Celine

p.s. If you've never been to an Icing (by Claire's), you should. Like Claire's, but for teens + 20s.... Claire's has become a store more for tweens and little girls (hence all the puppy and Hello Kitty and Disney princesses....). Although you can still find cute stuff at Claire's...

What I'm wearing: Welcome, 2011!!!!!

Happy New Year!!!! This is my first post in 2011 (WOW!!!) 2010 passed quickly.... I'm sad to see it go, but I can't wait to see what God has in store for this year. :)

Anyways:

What I'm wearing:
sparkly blouse from Old Navy
hair bow: made by me!

And I have a confession to make. I wore sweat pants with my beautiful sparkly blouse and new hair band. Yup, sweat pants. We basically just watched movies till half hour before the New Year, so I decided to be comfortable. Everyone else was in there pjs, anyway.

So: what did you do for New Years Eve?
