Merry Christmas!

I'll be busy the next week, so I though I'd post now.

Merry Christmas :)

Wolf Ears Hat....

I've been knitting like a mad women lately... mostly on these adorable Wolf Ear hats! I've made three already...

My lovely friend Brooke is modeling, and yes, she's receiving one for Christmas too! I guess my gift giving is a tad predictable... ;)

I'm also knitting a lot of hats for charity: to be specific, for the Pine Ridge Sioux Reservation in South Dakota. To quote Friends of the Pine Ridge Reservation's website, "Unemployment is over 80%, the weather is extreme, and families struggle mightily with crushing financial, housing, health, educational and social issues." My family recently watched "Children of the Plains: a Hidden America" (which was a 20/20 special with Diane Sawyer and can be watched here), and it really touched us. There are great needs here in our own country, that very few have ever heard of!

It's heartbreaking to learn what these children go through. But at the same time, uplifting to see there dreams, hopes and aspirations. One 12-year-old boy hopes to be the first Native American President, for example.

So I would really recommend you watch "Children of the Plains" sometime this Christmas season. Here's a bit:

Colorful in the Cold (from Claire's)

Claire's always has collections that match my style mood! I don't know how that happens, because I decide I like something, then go to Claire's and see it, so, I don't know.... I think they're copying me! ;)

Anyways, I love Fair Isle knitwear right now. (Actually, I've been knitting 24/7 lately... so this makes sense.)

I also love bright highlighter colors:
                                                       These are adorable!

And don't forget some fun accessories:
This ombre fringe is a necklace! Very my sister's style, I think...

The collection can be found HERE.

Question: Are you eager for the holiday season or hanging on to Fall? I was in Walmart the other day, and they were playing Christmas music! I confess I got excited bought a few early Christmas presents :)

Hooded capes, cowls, and scarves...

I always feel like a fairytale heroine when wearing a hood. :)
Plus, they keep the worst chill out.
I specifically love hooded scarves, like this Fair Isle-y one of Selena Gomez's:
(from Target)
I'm anticipating the official start of fall tomorrow!

love,

Granted

My new favorite find: Granted clothing

Basically, Granted makes Cowichan sweaters, with a twist: they use traditional motifs, in new ways with nontraditional colors. (Here's the full story)

The result? Adorableness. :)
The above sweater is my favorite. I love reindeer motifs :)
Check it out: Grantedclothing.com  :)

"Into the woods..."

I've recently fallen in love with  Vogue Knitting Magazine! Kind of funny, as I used to be too impatient for knitting.

I bought their Early Fall issue, and LOVED all the articles. These featured (above, too) are my favorites:
I love how they accessorize and their unique props!

Here's their website: vogueknitting.com
 Love,

Boho Wedding....

This is sort of old news, but I just loved Kate Moss's recent wedding!
So cute! The bridesmaids and flower girls look like Woodland Faeries...
Lovely location, too.

Just some thoughts for today :)

Bella Bird

Just a quick post, to share this really cute line.

Bella Bird (Bellabird.com) has these adorable skirts and dresses, (all a modest knee length or longer--yay!!!!) which can be found at Walmarts in Idaho and Utah. Bella Bird clothing is both modest and inexpensive-- a rarity today.

Here are some of their line:
I think this one may be my favorite. I love the roses...

I love the watercolor effect of this skirt! Bella Bird also carries very comfy, jersey knit tops to go with their skirts, like the one above. Would make a good outfit. :)

So, check it out here: bellabird.com. :)

Great sale!

I got all this for $15!

Claire's was having a clearance sale a few weeks ago. Items on the clearance rack are already 50% off, and they made them an extra 50% off... so most necklaces were just a few bucks!

I love this pouch (above). Could be worn with sundresses or sweaters!

Plus, for items $11.50 and under, they were $1 each!!!!(if you purchased the minimum of 5 items, but still!)

So I stocked up. One of my favorite $1 items is this sewing necklace (above). Thread, and iron, a measuring tape... story of my life *grin*

I loved these huge "rubies".

This owl is another favorite.

Sadly, I don't think they have the sale on anymore... but the saleslady said they randomly have it every once in awhile, so keep checking you local Clarie's, I guess. :)

Modcloth vs Me-- Raspberry 50's Frock

My way:

Dress: Made by me
Sweater: borrowed from Mom
Pink Heels: Ross

Modcloth:
(outfit no longer available)

I wore this outfit for my piano recital. The retro skirt is so full....plus, I got the fabric for this dress so much on sale, that the total cost for this dress was about $8!!!!

More here, on my sewing blog (iradessadressdiary.blogspot.com).
